i want to make a “he should’ve been at the club” post about hamlet but there’s so much controversy about his actual age that i can’t while still maintaining any claim to academic integrity
“should hamlet have been at the club”, the world’s longest unanswered question in the history of academia, still ongoing after 400 years of debate
Reminder that steam is not only “no longer supporting windows 7” ,. they will be actively disabling all clients on this OS by end of this year. No, you can’t run offline. No, you can’t run the games standalone. The official steam position is go fuck yourself.
Their reasoning is due to intertwinement with some google features, which imo is just making it even fucking worse, because why the fuck do google need to be involved in me playing a game I bought in 2013? And why do they get to say I can no longer access this game?
If you want a workaround, hit up this but in future, just use GOG.
This isn’t about the OS, so don’t even start with me. Deliberately disabling access to items you’ve already purchased with no recourse is the highest order of bullshit.
There were a lot of freshwater mussels on the 2021 US extinction list. They didn’t leave us with haunting recordings of them calling out for a mate they’d never meet, there were no drawings in vivid color. They were extremely important nevertheless and their loss is frustrating too. That’s why stream ecology and mollusks have always fascinated me. They were silent, stalwart little heroes and entire species were lost to pollution.
Yeah, I am bothered by extinct animals. Even this guy. They can’t all be thylacines.
There are so many extinct mussels in just the southeast USA that the Center for Biological Diversity made a poster. It’s outdated by at least 13 mussels that I know of but probably more by now. All of them mattered in unique ways we can no longer appreciate.
Hundreds of thousands of people came out today in London to March for a Free Palestine. Hundreds of thousands of people disagreeing with the current government stance on the war. Don’t let the media fool you, people in the UK stand with Palestine.
Reports are saying that nearly half a million people marched in this protest. That’s roughly equivalent to 1 in every 16 people who live in Greater London.
I’ve personally not seen anything on this scale since the Iraq war protests.
Also there were many, many Jewish people taking part to these protests - in the UK, and across the world - to denounce what is happening.
I’ve already seen people trying to frame these protests as antisemitic and a reason why Jewish people should leave the country (and go to Israel of course). Don’t let them push this narrative.
